Basic Watermelon Salad
Basic Watermelon Salad is delicious, refreshing and so EASY to make with only three salad ingredients and a light Lime dressing
Up until a couple of years ago, I never had watermelon as a salad. In a fruit salad for dessert, yes, but never as a proper side salad to meats.
I thought I’ll share a recipe for a very basic watermelon Salad today, with a few optional extras which you can add.
Extras to add to Watermelon Salad :
- Kalamata Olives
- Nuts
- Seeds
- Baby leaf herbs
- Mixed lettuce
- Pickled onions
Most, if not all, food bloggers already know all the ways around watermelon, but sometimes we (read — ME) often forget that non-bloggers read our recipe posts as well.
Not only non-bloggers, but young cooks do as well and as cultures differs so does the way people are used to only certain types of foods seen as normal.
I can almost guarantee you that if I stumbled onto a complexed, herb filled, watermelon recipe a few years ago, I most certainly would have passed.
This basic Watermelon Salad recipe is a great way to sort of introduce oneself to something new, and if all goes well, next time you might add not only one extra ingredient, but a couple.

That looks so yummy and summery
I had never seen anything like this until a couple years ago when my husband and I ate out at a very fancy restaurant and I got a watermelon arugula salad. It was DIVINE! Yours looks really divine, too!
I've never had anything like this, but it does sound tasty!
So refreshing. I had this when I was a dinner guest once (or something like it…) I had never had it before, and I loved it. I would definitely take it to a summer picnic!
