Looking for an easier way to make french toast ? This all-in-one Baked Bacon and Cheese French Toast is the answer.
By now, you should know that we love having brunch over weekends. And I like to serve a lot of different dishes - almost like dinner, but with sides like fruit, croissants, yogurt and juices.
You can even cook the Bacon the night before and put the sandwiches for the Baked french toast together in only a couple of minutes the next morning.
By the time your oven has reached the correct temperature, the dish would long be ready to go inside and you can carry on preparing the rest of your brunch dishes.
Not everyone likes Tomato over their French Toast, so you might want to serve that on a separate plate.
Baked Bacon and Cheese French Toast
8 Slices Bread
3 TB Butter
250g Bacon, cooked
1 1/2 cups Gouda Cheese, grated, divided
2 Cups Milk
2 TB Brown Onion Soup Powder
2 TB Parsley, chopped
Salt and Pepper, to taste
1 Tomato, sliced
1.) Pre-heat the oven to 180 deg C (350 deg F) - butter a large oven dish (four slices of bread must fit onto the bottom)
2.) Butter the Bread slices lightly, layer 4 slices with the cooked Bacon and 1 (one) cup of Gouda Cheese - top with the remaining bread slices and cut each sandwich into quarters.
3.) Transfer to the prepared oven dish.
4.) Whisk together the Eggs, Milk, Soup Powder, Parsley and season lightly with Salt and Pepper (the Onion Powder is already salty) - pour over the sandwiches.
5.) Top with remaining Gouda Cheese and bake 30 minutes or until the Egg mixture is set and the Bread is crisp and golden.
6.) Remove from the oven and top with Tomato.
Use a knife if necessary to divide the sandwiches and serve.
