Butter Dipped Drop Biscuits

Butter Dipped Drop Biscuits ~ Featherlight drop-n-bake biscuits with a butter drenched bottom ~ amazing ! #Biscuits #DropBiscuits

Fluffy light, slightly crispy and butter drenched bottom !  Amazing biscuit recipe, which will become a regular on our menu.

When I had just started my blog, the only people I had following me, was family and a few friends. Now, I might have bribed them, or maybe they were just feeling sorry for me … haha.. but I think that is how most blogs start out. I mean, your very, very first blog, who were your first followers ? Thought so, yes !

Anyhow, my real first follower was none other than Marsha Baker from THE BETTER BAKER. I was already following loads of blogs and Marsha’s has been among the first ones. At first I couldn’t believe it, really?? A real food blogger {and from a different country!} was following my teeny tiny little blog with only 13 followers – all myself and family/friends. To say the least I was over the moon ! Can you still remember your first non-bribed  non family/friend, follower?

Right, so I found this recipe on The Better Baker’s site a while back and wanted to make it ever since. Finally, I got to this {and why did I wait to make these???} and we enjoyed the biscuits tremendously.  I made a small change {because I’m real lazy!} – I did not pour the dough into the baking dish, level the dough or cut it whilst still unbaked.  I could feel the dough was very sticky and my short fuse is not a friend with sticky dishes needed to be level and cut.

I simply took large spoonfuls and dropped them into the dish with the melted Butter. Came out just fine !

1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
2 1/2 cups Flour
4 t Caster Sugar
4 t Baking Powder
2 t Salt
1 3/4 cups Buttermilk
1) Pre-heat the oven to 230 deg C (450 deg F) – spray a 20 x 20cm oven dish with cooking spray.
2) Place the Butter in the oven dish and into the oven until the Butter has melted.
3) Mix together the Flour, Sugar, Baking Powder and Salt – add the Buttermilk and mix well {the dough is very sticky}
4) Drop large spoonfuls of dough onto the melted Butter – bake 20 – 25 minutes.

These look super good! I have a weakness for bread! I love your story about your blog. My blog is still kind of a "baby." I work very hard with it and I hope it will eventually pay off!

I love this recipe, Linda. I have a similar one called "Butter Dips" that is a cross between a biscuit and bread sticks. And oh so buttery. I'm glad you decided to experiment with drop biscuits and make life easier for the rest of us. Ha!

I can never make biscuits...they always turn out like rocks. But..I keep trying and I'll try yours! Is that an 8" square pan? In America we are on the cutting edge of everything you know....except metrics!!! LOL!
