Bacon and Avocado Fillet Steak

Bacon and Avocado Fillet Steak

I absolutely love fillet steak, but as with most red meats these days, fillet {especially beef fillet!} has become so expensive, and then we're not even going to touch the subject of how bad red meat is for your health, we do not have fillet steaks very often.

We try to cut down on red meats, but it has always been a huge part of our diets, since childhood. I think my late granddad would have been most unhappy with all the chicken and fish meals served nowadays ;-)

Anyway, back to today's recipe - I normally order a Bacon and Avocado Fillet Steak from one of our steakhouses, eat in or as a take out. Now, that can be expensive !  So, I thought I will try and make it at home.

I was not too sure about the exact preparing of the steak, whether it should be marinated, basted while grilling or frying, or what kind of sauce the restaurant added to the steak.

Well, I was in for a surprise ! I started off with precisely this recipe {if you can even call it a recipe} and it tasted just the same as when I order it from the restaurant - for a fraction of the cost.

Quantities per your own preference

Beef Fillet Steaks, cooked {grilled or pan fried, seasoned lightly}
Thick Sour Cream
Fried Bacon, crisp or not
Avocado, sliced or cubed
Freshly Ground Black Pepper

1.) Spread a thick layer of Sour Cream to the top of the cooked steak - arrange the Bacon and the Avocado over the Sour Cream.
2.) Serve with lots of Black Pepper !
