Wall Plant Box

Another piece in our bedroom is done !  Besides going to the builders express store and waiting for the paint to dry, this little project was done in no time at all.

I took measurements, the guy at the store cut the wood to my sizes and after that it was a quick assembly, spray paint and decorating.

The succulents are small pieces from Roy's succulent corner in the garden. I like succulents because they are hard to kill... and I am capable of killing plastic plants - not that I have any {apparently, they bring you bad luck ;-)  }.

This is what I used:

Planks in the following sizes:  {I used SA Pine}

2 x 400mm x 69mm x 22mm
2 x 350mm x 69mm x 22mm
2 x 150mm x 69mm x 22mm
1 x 250mm x 69mm x 22mm

1 x 250mm x 154mm White Masonite for the base of the plant box

Nails suitable for wood - approximately 40 x 30mm

White spray paint - I used Rust-O-Leum {for metal, wood & plastic}

Sanding Paper

Metallic Craft paint in Silver - to highlight the nails

Succulents - mine are planted in small individual pots which is placed loosely in the box

Decorations

How I assembled the box:

The longer pieces are the top and the bottom

The two medium pieces are placed and fastened on top of the bottom and top pieces as per the above photo

Fasten the 2 smaller pieces {nailed in the back} as shown above

The last plank goes over the previous two planks - the box is almost done

I apologize for forgetting to take a photo of the actual base/bottom Masonite board being assembled - Use the 250mm x 154mm Masonite to complete the box at the bottom. {marked with  X }

I then spray painted the frame and box, waited about an hour and lightly sanded the paint to give the box a bit of a shabby, beachy look.

Added my plants and some decorations - I also highlighted the nail heads roughly with Metallic craft paint in silver, I used the same silver and wrote an "N" for our surname as a final touch...

At first I was not sure how I wanted to fix it to the wall - it was either hanging from a rope or just two strong nails - I chose the latter ;-)

Hope you like it and will give you some inspiration for a different kind of Wall Art  !!

Ciao,
