Early Fall Fruit Crumble is an easy, delicious Fall favorite, loaded with Apples and Pears and perfect for a week night dessert
Although my daughter does not like warm fruit, the rest of us love this early Fall Fruit Crumble, or just about any crumble with fruit.
Because she is not a fan of desserts with warm fruit, I usually make this during the week as she is only home over weekends.
Fortunately, this Fruit Crumble does not take a lot of time to prepare, and is therefore perfect to serve during the week.
Only the chopping up of the fruit takes a little time, and by using large fruits, apples and pears, even the chopping goes quicker.
We enjoy this dessert with ice-cream or whipped cream and I also served it with a thinnish custard once. However my family (as do I !) much more prefer whipped cream, or ice-cream. The choice is yours.
The Almonds together with the Cinnamon not only makes your kitchen smells amazing, but the taste is pure heaven and works so good with the Apples and Pears.
**Soak the Dried Prunes in Water for 5 – 10 minutes (not crucial though!)

Early Fall Fruit Crumble
- 1 1/4 cup Flour
- 3/4 cup Butter
- 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cup Oatmeal (Instant or Quick Cooking)
- 1/4 cup Almonds, flaked
- 900 gr Mixed Fruit, cored and cubed (I have Apples, Pears and **Dried Prunes) (2 pounds)
- 1 TB Ground Cinnamon
- 3 TB Caster Sugar
1.) Pre-heat the oven to 180 deg C (350 deg F) – spray a large, deep 20 x 30 cm oven dish (9 x 12 inch) with cooking oil
2.) Place the Flour and Butter in a food processor – pulse until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs – transfer to a mixing bowl
3.) Add the Brown Sugar, Oatmeal and Almonds to the Flour mixture and stir through – set aside
4.) Place the Mixed Fruit, Cinnamon and Caster Sugar in a large mixing bowl – stir to combine – transfer to the prepared oven dish
5.) Top with the crumbly Flour/Oatmeal mixture – bake 40 – 45 minutes or until fruit is cooked through and the crumble is golden
