Chocolate Pizza and White Chocolate Sauce

Chocolate Pizza and White Chocolate Sauce

We are huge Pizza fans !  Because really, it is only a phone call away ... But, seriously now, we do like our pizzas even as a Sunday late lunch/early dinner if we had something on earlier the day. Phoning for pizzas are usually a last minute choice, because let's face it, to make your own is very easy, whether you use homemade proper pizza dough, a quick crust or even a frozen base with your own toppings.

However, today's pizza is a little different - new? not by far. Chocolate Pizza is fast becoming a favorite dessert all over the world. Top it with a White Chocolate Sauce, which slowly but surely gets soaked into the chocolate base, and you have a winner dessert.

It is basically a brownie baked in a pizza pan, but what I did when removing the base from the pizza pan, was to have the top side {which normally looks more set than the bottom} and turn it upside down onto my serving plate - instantly more absorbent.

I forgot {and this does not happen very often!} to take a photo before we dug into the Chocolate Pizza and by the time I remembered, this was all we had left. I'd rather not say how many of us ate the rest ;-)

Chocolate Pizza And White Chocolate Sauce

160g Dark Chocolate, good quality, chopped
1/2 cup Butter, cubed
1 1/4 cups Flour
1/2 t Baking Powder
Pinch Salt
2 Eggs
3/4 cup Caster Sugar

1/2 cup Fresh Cream  {double cream}
90g White Chocolate, good quality

Fresh Strawberries, to serve
Mint Leaves, to decorate

1.) Pre-heat the oven to 180 deg C (350 deg F) - Spray a pizza pan with cooking oil and line the base.
2.) Melt together the Dark Chocolate and the Butter, stirring until smooth - set aside to cool slightly.
3.) Sift together the Flour, Baking Powder and Salt in a medium mixing bowl.
4.) Once the melted Chocolate/Butter has cooled a little - add the Eggs and Caster Sugar - beat until creamy and smooth.
5.) Add the sifted dry ingredients to the Chocolate mixture and stir well to combine.
6.) Pour the batter into the prepared pizza pan - bake 15 minutes - remove from oven and let cool in the pan.
7.) Turn out the completely cooled pizza base onto a serving dish.
8.) Heat the Cream and White Chocolate over low heat until melted and smooth - let cool and place in the refrigerator for 15 minutes {stirring every 5 minutes}
9.) Pour the White Chocolate Sauce over the pizza and top with Fresh Strawberries and Mint Leaves.

Best to wait 10 - 15 minutes in order for the Sauce to drench the base !
