Beef & Veggie Pasta

If you follow me on Facebook, you would have seen me mentioning that Roy wanted to cook tonight !

First, he wanted something with mashed potatoes, in the same sentence, or with rice, still in the same sentence, or pasta. He had a craving for all three, but I made sure he knew these three can not be served together.

He then decided on pasta ... ok, ?? I  think if I had my specs on, I would have seen smoke coming out of his ears! All by himself he worked out this recipe.

The cooking started, {when he decided what to make, he told me it will go into the oven as well} - but I stood around...just keeping an eye on my stuff he's using, asking him when will he switch on the oven.. Right, the look I received told me he forgot, or maybe he did not know an oven must pre-heat.

Over he went to the oven, asking which knobs to turn to what?? I showed him, and guess what..he wanted to know how long "stuff" stays in the oven for...really - yes REALLY.

Many a night I'm not in the mood to fix dinner and he'll make something, somehow, it usually doesn't turn out bad. For the life of me, I do not know why he used the words "I will cook/bake tonight" sounding very professional.

Ok, whatever he did, it was very filling and delicious!

Beef & Veggie Pasta

500g Screw Noodles
2 Onions, chopped
750g Ground Beef
1 t Salt
1 packet KNORR Savory Cook-in-sauce
400ml Cold Water
1 can (410g) Mixed Vegetables
1 can (385g) Creamed Mushrooms
300g Cheddar cheese, grated

1.) Pre-heat oven to 180 deg C (350 deg F) - Spray a 20 x 30cm oven dish with Spray 'N Cook.
2.) Cook the Screw noodles as per directions on pack.
3.) Meanwhile, saute the Onions in a little Oil until soft - add the Ground Beef, together with the Salt and stir-fry until no longer pink.
4.) Mix the KNORR Savory sauce with the Water and add to the meat mixture - simmer for 15 minutes - add the Mixed Vegetables and the Creamed Mushrooms. Heat through.
5.) Drain the Noodles and add the Meat mixture - stir to combine - transfer to the prepared oven dish, sprinkle the Cheddar cheese over and bake for 15 - 20 minutes.
6.) Remove from the oven and let stand for 5 - 10 minutes before serving.

Out of the oven - standing for a few minutes

And I wait, and wait - but he never gave me a chance to dish it up to take a proper pic - next I knew, he's handing me the plate (first photo) and told me it's ready to be photographed! {It looks as if it was just dumped onto the plate - but, let's be fair.. his recipe, his rules!}

As I said, it was delicious - very tasty indeed, what do you think of this recipe?

{Oh yeah, that's all we had on our plate - no salad or said if we wanted anything extra, we can add a slice or two of bread.. mm, pasta and bread - think not} fortunately it turned out very filling.
