These Caramel Chocolate Bars are addictive ! Gooey caramel in the center, with a crunch, chocolatey topping – and yes, I had to add some coconut as well 🙂

Next time you are in a hurry, or just have a craving for caramel or chocolate, bake a batch of these and your craving will be satisfied.

They’re in the oven twice, but only minutes at a time.

CARAMEL CHOCOLATE BARS

20 – 24 Bars
1 Box Chocolate Cake Mix
100g {1 stick} Butter, unsalted, room temperature
1 Extra-Large Egg
1 1/2 cups Caramel Sauce   {any type will do}
1/4 cup Flour
1/2 cup Chocolate Chips
1/4 cup Coconut
2 TB Butter
1.) Pre-heat the oven to 180 deg C (350 deg F) – have a 20 x 30cm oven dish ready {no need to grease}
2.) Combine the Cake Mix, Stick of Butter and the Egg – it will be a dryish mixture.
3.) Keep 1/4 cup of the mixture aside – press the remaining cake mixture into the oven dish – bake for 10 minutes – remove from oven and let cool 10 minutes.
4.) Spread the Caramel Sauce over the cooled cake.
5.) Add the Flour to the retained cake mixture – mix until crumbly – sprinkle over the Caramel sauce.
6.) Sprinkle over the Chocolate Chips and the Coconut and dot all over the top with the 2 TB Butter.
7.) Return to the oven – bake another 10 minutes.
8.) Remove from the oven and let cool completely in the baking dish.
Slice into Bars and serve !
