You should know by now that I like easy, but always delicious, recipes and this is another one of those.

I went recipe searching the other day and found this recipe on Sweet Pennies From Heaven’s site.

This is more a cake than a bread, soft, moist and amazing ! I was asked to make it again the following day – Yes, it is that good !

Ingredients
  

BREAD:

  • 1 ½ cups Flour
  • ½ cup Cocoa Powder
  • ½ t Salt
  • ½ t Baking Powder
  • ½ t Baking Soda
  • ½ cup Unsalted Butter softened
  • 1 cup Caster Sugar Superfine Sugar
  • 2 extra-large Eggs
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • ¼ cup Chocolate Chips

BUTTER:

  • ½ cup Chocolate Chips
  • ½ cup Unsalted Butter softened
  • 2 TB Honey

Instructions
 

  • Pre-heat the oven to 180 deg C (350 deg F) – spray a medium loaf pan with cooking spray and line the bottom
  • Mix the Flour, Cocoa, Salt, Baking Powder and Baking Soda in a medium mixing bowl
  • Beat the Butter and Caster Sugar until creamy – add the Eggs one by one, beating in between additions – beat in the Flour mixture and the Buttermilk until well combined – pour into the prepared loaf pan
  • Bake 20 minutes – remove from the oven – sprinkle the Chocolate Chips over and return to the oven – bake a further 30 – 35 minutes or until a tester comes out clean
  • Remove from oven – cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes – turn the bread out and cool completely or serve slightly warm
  • BUTTER: Melt the Chocolate Chips for the spread – add the Butter and the Honey – mix well
