Juicy Jalapeno Burgers

Delicious Juicy Jalapeno Burgers with a bite ~ make it as hot as you like !

This is such a simple recipe, but so juicy and full of flavor and the charred Red Pepper added so much taste to the Jalapeno Burger.

Ever since I burnt my hands chopping chilies I am a little wary of anything to do with them, but my hubby was home, and he doesn't have a problem with the chopping bit, which also resulted in him preparing most of the patties, because I can not work wearing plastic gloves, they're irritating and uncomfortable.

We did not add a lot of jalapeno chilies, only about 3 which was around 30 grams in total.  I like spicy and hot, to a certain point - if I start sweating only because of what I'm eating ... it's a no-no for me !  How can one enjoy a meal that way ?!  I know my daughter's friend would probably add 3 or 4 times as much chilies, plus Tabasco Sauce and whatever else he can find to turn up the heat !

Anyhow, if you like it spicier/hotter - go for it, add as much chilies as you like, really, it will only add to your personal taste buds.

JUICY JALAPENO BURGER

4 - 6 Burgers

INGREDIENTS:

2 Large Red Bell Peppers
Olive Oil
Salt & Freshly ground Black Pepper
Lemon Juice, to taste

500g Lean Ground Beef
1 TB Olive Oil
3 Jalapeno Chilies, chopped finely    {or more!}
1/3 cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
1 TB Coriander Seeds, coarsely grounded

4 - 6 Burger Buns
Mayonnaise
2 Tomatoes, sliced
1 Red Onion, sliced
Lettuce, shredded

DIRECTIONS:

  1. ) Brush the Red Bell Peppers with Olive Oil - cook over hot coals until charred {or place under the grill element of your oven} turning regularly - when done, place in a plastic bag to "sweat" - remove the skin and cut into strips - season with Salt & Pepper and add a dash or two of Lemon Juice - put aside until needed.
  2. ) Combine the Ground Beef, Olive Oil, Chilies, Parmesan Cheese and Coriander Seeds in a mixing bowl - form into 4 - 6 patties - chill for 20 minutes to set - grill over medium coals {drizzle lightly with Olive Oil} or fry in a little Olive Oil in a pan over medium heat until done.
  3. ) Build your burger - bottom piece of burger Bun spread with Mayonnaise, followed by some Lettuce, Tomato slices, Red Onion, Burger Pattie, a few strips of Red Pepper and finally top with the other half of the Burger Bun.
Serve immediately with French fries or salads on the side.

  3. I love hot and spicy - however, my family is not as tolerant as I am - so your amount of chilies would probably be great for them :) Your burger sounds great - pinned it!
