Cheeseburger & Fries Casserole

Cheeseburger and Fries Casserole ~ Have your Cheeseburger AND Fries in one casserole ~ delicious ! #Casserole #Cheeseburger

Genius and delicious!  We loved this somewhat different dish. Cheesy meat on the bottom, topped with fries.  Really, yes, REALLY !

I have been looking {instead of trying out my own stuff!} for quick, easy and mostly casserole recipes this past week, as we are kind of busy with Dimitri's room, which of course, does not give me a lot of time experimenting with recipes.

When I saw this recipe, here, on BHG, I first thought, now, that is a neat idea.  And it turned out to be perfect.  {I did make some changes though}

***Only one thing, the meat should not be too saucy, otherwise the fries will sink into the filling instead  of staying on top***

Cheeseburger & Fries Casserole

6 - 8 servings

1 - 2 TB Oil
1 Onion, chopped
1 kg Lean Ground Beef
1 can (385g) Creamy Mushrooms
1 cup Thick Cheddar Cheese Sauce  {Homemade or Store-bought}
Salt & Pepper, to taste
500g Frozen Oven Potato Fries  {the thin cut}

Tomato, chopped, to serve   {optional}
Pickles, sliced, to serve  {optional}

1.) Pre-heat the oven to 180 deg C (350 deg F) - spray a large oven casserole dish with Spray 'N Cook.
2.) Heat the Oil - saute the Onion until soft - add the Ground Beef, cook until done - add the Mushrooms and the Cheese Sauce, stir through - add Salt & Pepper, to taste.
3.) Transfer the Meat mixture to the oven dish - top with the Fries - bake uncovered for 45 - 55 minutes until the Fries are cooked and golden

Serve immediately with Tomatoes, Pickles, Tomato Sauce, Mustard Sauce or anything else you would normally add to a burger.
