Cheesy Garlic Bread

Cheesy Garlic Bread ~ Turn a store-bought French loaf into a gooey delicious, Cheesy Garlic Bread #GarlicBread #QuickBread

I made this very cheesy, garlic bread today, to go with our braai {BBQ} Our supermarkets sell them, packed in the aluminum foil - ready for the grill or oven, but these store-bought breads has so little garlic in them, one is never sure whether the intention was for it to be garlic or maybe the price tag was a typo.. {I am sarcastic here..}

Anyhow, I prefer to make my own (ok, confession .. I do buy the plain bread from the supermarket).

Before we go onto the recipe, look who/what I met today;

This lovely dog's name is DOGLIFE .. really, Roy asked the owner why that name, and he said because his (own) life is a dog's life, so he named his lovely dog -  Doglife. I tried to ask the owner whether it is a girl - upon which he answered - "No, it is a dog..." hence, me saying what and not him or her. This is such a friendly and very playful dog, isn't he/she just lovely?

Now, I went to see Doglife's owner because he is my, .. uhm, ... diy connection. This guy makes all kinds of wooden stuff, but mainly working with reeds, and he does this right there next to the road. Highway on the one side and a smaller road towards some banking center on the other side.  I went to request a special order from him today, for yet another project I am working on. Sure, I could just have asked him to sell me the reeds and I could do the whole project from step one, but this guy is at least trying to earn a living in an honest way, so I did not mind paying the extra bit for his part in this.

When I do the actual post, I will share some photos of the stuff he makes.

Right, here is the recipe:

Cheesy Garlic Bread

1 French Loaf - the longer or shorter type (I used Rye-bread in this recipe)
1/2 cup Margarine or Butter, softened
3 t Garlic, minced
1/4 cup Parsley, chopped
2 TB Chives, chopped
Gouda Cheese, sliced

1.) Cut the Bread into slices, but not all the way through.
2.) Mix the Margarine or Butter with the Garlic, Parsley and Chives - using a knife .. just press/spread this mixture into all the cuts on the Bread.
3.) Press a slice of Gouda Cheese into each cut.

Already looks good !!

4.) Wrap it in aluminium foil - put it on the side of the grill (you really only want to heat this through in order to melt the cheese) - ours was ready after 20 - 25 minutes. If you use your oven, set it to 180 deg C (350 deg F) and bake for 15 - 20 minutes.

Sliced Tomato can be added as well, but we are not always in the mood for Tomatoes.

Tip : The more Parsley you use, the less people will give you a "dirty" look because of your garlic breath the next day ;-)

Okay, that's me for the night - have a lot of projects lined up for tomorrow {whether I will finish any or all, remains to be seen...}
