1.) Pre-heat the oven to 180 deg C (350 deg F) – line a 20cm (8 inch) deep spring form cake pan with baking paper
2.) Sift together the Flour, Cinnamon, Salt, Baking Powder and Baking Soda in a large mixing bowl
3.) Beat together the Oil, Caster Sugar, Vanilla and Eggs – stir in the Apples
4.) Fold Apple mixture into the dry ingredients
5.) Gently fold in the beaten Egg Whites – pour batter into the prepared pan and bake 1 1/2 hours or until a tester comes out clean – cool in pan
6.) Remove from pan and transfer to a serving plate
7.) Frosting: Beat together the Butter, Sugar and Syrup – add the Cream Cheese and beat until smooth – spread over cake and down the sides – sprinkle with Walnuts
