Mail & Key Holder

I have finally finished a mail/key holder for Dimitri.  He is the only one in the family who is forever misplacing his keys.
Now, that he is in his new room {outside} the house, he really needed a prominent place to hang his keys. I made this holder over a week ago, but got stuck on the decorating stuff.  His room is black, white and red and more towards modern than classic, so nothing too decorated was needed.  Anyhow, I painted the letters and icons, first, did not like it, re-sprayed black, tried another painting technique, did not like it again !
So, although the basics were done and it really just needed to be hung, I wanted something more on it – I left it {in eye-sight} for a week and I finally gave up, as Dimitri keeps asking for it, and I just stuck some letters onto clear adhesive plastic {the kind that you use to cover books with}.
I asked Roy to cut me a piece of wood {from leftovers}
We then painted it gloss black, added 3 hooks at the lower part for keys and cut a “groove” for the piece of wire {used to be a ladder in one of our hamster’s cages!} to slip in. Roy added some screws to keep the wire in place and steady.
This is a very close-up of the groove and one of the screws.
The letter and icons I cut out, stuck to clear adhesive plastic .
Not sure whether I like this, but he needed it and my brain froze, so this is it !
And to top it all, only when I typed up this post … I saw the “S” in KEYS is a bit …okay a lot, lopsided {I will probably change this whole thing!}
Here are some links to other things we made/changed for this room:

L-Shaped Desk From Scratch

Desk Chair Make-Over

Desk Caddy & Tray Spray Painted

    Well I think it's very clever! But I also totally get how it feels when you take photos and then see a mistake or something you want to change. You've put so much into this room I'm sure he loves it 🙂
