Dressing Table Turned Herb Garden

Dressing Table Turned Herb Garden ~ Turn an old dressing table into a Herb Garden easily #HerbGarden #Recycling #RepurposedCraft #DIY #Gardening

I have been wanting a small herb garden for some time and have finally made one, which of course I now need to keep alive {I'm one of those people who can kill plastic plants !} But, I am confident that this little herb collection will actually make it, as I started using loads of herbs during the last couple of months.

This dressing table turned Herb Garden , was a sudden bright idea which struck me. I want the herbs indoors, not only because it is Winter now, but mainly because I do not like to venture outside when I am alone.

I also did not want to make the usual window sill garden as I have other goodies on display there. My new herb garden is now in the Laundry/Scullery and not only looks great there, but will also receive afternoon sun, when I open the small window on the far left.

I used Cheri's old dressing table - which I actually used outside as a table to do some painting on - We have long since removed the half oval shaped mirror .. mm, stacked away for some craft some day I hope!

{Winter is here ... the grass is already dying in the shady parts}

Dirty and scattered with spray paint. At first I asked Roy to remove the two poles at the back, which used to hold the mirror, but changed my mind again and kept it. I glued 3 inexpensive wall art pieces together, which we attached to the two poles.

Cleaning was done first, then spray painted with leftover black paint we had. I used empty ice-cream containers to plant the seedlings into, leaving enough space for the plants to spread.

Roy made small holes in the containers to drain excess water and I placed the ice-cream containers' lids upside down to catch the water. I wrapped the containers with Burlap, added homemade chalk tags and the plants were ready.

The only exception here was the Rosemary which I planted in a cut-off soda bottle and used another soda bottle's bottom to collect excess water which will drain through the hole in the planter bottle. I decided to use the same zebra fabric {as I have in the laundry} to loosely wrap around the bottle with a strip of Burlap to finish off. I bought the decor bicycle years ago and have never used it before - finally found a use for it...

Seen from above .. well, sort of - I can fit in another 2 or 3 containers as there is enough space

  8. I have a couple of old tables that I should drag out of the basement and stick them outside in my trash to treasure garden. Chrystal @ YUMeating.com

  9. I totally love this Linda! I especially love the creative planters you made. I would have never guessed they were recycled ice cream containers. Your herbs took so happy. I'm pinning and the next time I find a similar table at a thrift store or yard sale, it's coming home with me and I'm making one myself! So glad you shared this!
