Ombre Flower Pillow

Ombre Flower Pillow - upcycle a plain pillow case within an hour !   #ombre #pillow #crafts #decor #diy #yarncraft #loom #loomknitting via:withablast.blogspot.com

This was my first try at making anything Ombre related.   Until recently it wasn't even something I was remotely interested in, but being in blogland for a while now, it has grown on me.

I  wanted to start on my bedroom curtains, as they are just a plain light blue BUT, seeing as I have the big window above my bed and the full wall glass sliding door, there are 6 curtains in total... and last thing I need is to go mess around and end up hating 6 curtains, which could be costly to buy new, or even make myself.

Our foot end bench/blanket box {below} needs something different anyhow - I have two of the little white throw pillows, of which one I used here today. The second white pillow will stay as is, for now as I am busy with yet, another pillow to be placed on this bench/blanket box.

The existing two light blue, silver pillows would probably move to the bed {we'll see..;-)  }

A close up of the existing white pillow case - I actually love the textured fabric, but white only, can become boring and as I mentioned - one will remain plain.

I started off by using my Nifty Knitter Flower Loom and made 12 flowers - 4 in each shade of blue - they take under 5 minutes each to make

Above you can see how I used a contrasting shade of yarn to pull the centers together

This one is finished and I had already double tied the two loose strings of yarn at the bottom - after that I nipped off the yarn pieces and hot glued the flowers into place on the pillow case.

All this took just under an hour - after making two or three of these little flowers, you can easily make them in around 2 - 3 minutes each - really very quick.

Hope you enjoyed this post and if you are a loom knitter let me know of any patterns you might have on your blog or Pinterest - even a picture would do!  {I found that this is one of the most relaxing crafts I enjoy and it has so many possibilities at the same time}

Ciao for now,

With A Blast

  2. Hi Linda, you did a great job making the flowers. I love the pillow you made & you have now inspired me to make a flower pillow like yours. My friend in my crochet group gave me a flower maker and I haven't used it yet! I saw it on life on lakeshore drive.
